Firstly, i enjoyed very much your topic and lesson, for i as well picked that story bringing out a similar idea .  The quote from John L. was also very true and inspirational. Your speech was nicely said.  However you need to open up with a catchy line or a joke, in order to catch everyone's attention. Also you said over the story out of order, for first the daughter hugged King Midas and only after did King Midas go over to the river. Further more your words were a little swirled and you were moving your hands a lot.  I also think u could of added a better conclusion.  Last but not least, your speech was to short. You need to add another minute or two. 

With the upcoming new year, I would like to just apologize in case i was to harsh.  Please forgive me and we should all have a sweet new year!

i actually liked the speech (surprising no?) and the quote you used but you said "uh" too many times which threw me off balance. still great speech
